Restylane

Restylane is a non-surgical beauty treatment used to restore a more youthful appearance.  It is a dermal filler which is composed of a purified and sterilized hyaluronic acid-based gel that fills in lines and wrinkles in the face.  Hyaluronic acid is naturally found in the skin and works to trap water.  As we age our skin naturally loses hyaluronic acid, collagen and elastin, which causes skin laxity and the wrinkles we see.  

Restylane can be used to fill facial lines as well as a lip enhancement.  Once injected, Restylane integrates into the dermis and binds with water.  Results can be seen immediately.  Injections of Restylane generally do not require any anesthesia.  Injection times will vary depending on the size of the area being treated.

Results typically last 6 months, but may vary.

Restylane was approved for the treatment of wrinkles by the FDA in 2003.
